SoldOut - The Book
A powerful novel about survival, injustice, and hope.
SoldOut (Rosetta Versos 2024) is a novel based on the true-life stories of victims of human trafficking. It follows Chioma, a young Nigerian girl, on a harrowing journey through deception, exploitation, and resilience.

The Story
Chioma's journey begins with dreams of a better life in Europe. But what awaits her is not a nanny job, but a grim reality. From Libya to Italy and finally Finland, her story reflects the painful choices forced on young girls from the global south.
Reality Behind the Fiction
Though Chioma is fictional, her experience is tragically real for many. In 2023 alone, thousands lost their lives crossing the Mediterranean. SoldOut gives a voice to the voiceless, highlighting the cruel realities behind trafficking and migration.
Gender Inequality
The novel exposes deep-rooted gender biases, especially in cultures where a woman's worth is tied to bearing a male child. Chioma's pain is shaped by societal pressure, driving her pursuit of validation and freedom.

The Author's Motivation
Hope Nwosu wrote SoldOut to amplify unheard voices. Inspired by real encounters and her own challenges, her mission is to start conversations about gender, race, and social injustice that shape African women's lives.
