About Hope Nwosu
A journey of courage, migration, resilience and storytelling.
Born in a small-town outskirt from the former Biafran capital, Enugu Nigeria. She was named Hope because of the good luck her birth brought to the family. Hope left Nigeria as a trailing spouse to South Africa where her first child was born. She moved to Finland after a year to raise a big family.
Hope has a first-hand experience of what it feels to live far from the safety and comfort that extended family provides. She knows how it feels to move to a new country and begin life on a clean slate, without a support network, without a job.
Her experiences combined with a double university degree from Nigeria and Finland have moulded Hope into the powerful and confident woman she is today. She shares her experiences to spark discussions on migration, integration, women empowerment, and cultural identities of first- and second-generation immigrants to Finland and Europe.
Resilience in Writing
Her encounter with victims of human trafficking, in addition to her personal knowledge, motivated her to write her first novel, SoldOut. Although the writing process was long and filled with discouragement, Hope's determination helped her persevere through the challenges. Numerous rejections did not stop her. She finally found a publisher and brought her vision to life.
